(Somebody) Loan Me A Dime

거의 13분대에 이르는 이 곡은 원래

미국 블루스 기타리스트 'Fenton Robinson'이

처음 발표한 3분 정도의 짧은 곡이었습니다.

 

Fenton Robinson이 1967년 시카고의 작은 레코드사에서

작업을 마치고 앨범이 갓 나왔을 때 엄청난 폭설이 내리는 바람에

전국적인 배급이 원활히 이루어지지 않아서 곤란을 겪었다고 합니다.

 

 

'Boz Scaggs'가 1969년 그의 첫 솔로 앨범 데뷔작인

《Boz Scaggs》에서 처음 리메이크 곡으로 들려주었습니다.

 

원래 보즈 스캑스의 음악 스타일은 대체로 세련된 팝-락,

또는 퓨전이라고 하면 적당할 듯싶은데

이 앨범에서만큼은 블루스 필이 짙게 배어 있습니다.

그 이유는 앨범 작업에 참여했던 'Duane Allman' 때문입니다.

 

1971년 불의의 오토바이 사고로 25세에 요절한

'The Allman Brothers Band'의 핵심 멤버이자

타의 추종을 불허하는 슬라이드 기타리스트였던

그의 연주 덕분에 이 곡은 지금까지도

블루스의 고전(古典)으로 남게 되었습니다.

 

 

하지만 발표 당시 앨범 판매는 부진을 면치 못했고

Boz Scaggs는 소속 음반사를 옮겨야 할 정도로

저조한 실적을 거두었다고 전해집니다.

 

 

전 기타연주곡으로선 물론 듀안 올맨이 최고지만

기타연주도 좋고, 또한 무엇보다도 음색이 매력적인

릭 데링거 곡을 제일 좋아합니다.
